The $4.74 million Hay Park South Multi-Sport Pavilion was completed in March, allowing the South West Phoenix and South West Warriors clubs to play in the current season.
The new facility features a function centre, changing rooms, grandstand seating and associated amenities.
The new complex was developed with $2,833,657 from the Western Australian Government's Royalties for Regions program, $335,000 from the Western Australian Department of Sport and Recreation and $1,579,661 from the City of Bunbury.
Officially opening the complex, Western Australian Sport and Recreation Minister Mia Davies stated “both sporting teams are affiliated with their State leagues so this gives them a headquarters from which to train and host matches.
"Quality facilities are an important part of our sporting system and they encourage greater numbers of people to be active."
Western Australian Regional Development Minister Terry Redman said the State Government's Royalties for Regions program was committed to funding community projects that provided long-term benefits for the social and economic welfare of regional communities.
Minister Redman advised “infrastructure such as this provides extra opportunities for community engagement and social inclusion, which are critical to building cohesive communities in regional Western Australia.
"Sport and recreation facilities are often the hub of a vibrant regional community and this Royalties for Regions investment will bring sustainable benefits to the South-West community."
The new pavilion is part of Hay Park, Bunbury's largest sporting precinct, which includes the South West Sports Centre (aquatic and group fitness), tennis courts, an athletics track, outdoor netball courts, hockey turf and cricket pitches.
