New era of Australian golf industry communication

New era of Australian golf industry communication
May 6, 2018

As promised by the Professional Golfers Association of Australia and Golf Australia in their joint venture announced during the 2017 Emirates Australian Open, both bodies are committed to reducing duplication and improving efficiencies around shared media and operational areas.

This update represents the first stage of Australian Golf Media, the joint venture's combined media services initiative.

PGA Chief Executive Gavin Kirkman said it was the logical next step in providing greater clarity around communication from the Australian golf industry, explaining “Golf Australia and PGA have been working successfully together for years, particularly on MyGolf, but also in other collaborative programs, and that co-operation has yielded impressive results and growth.

"The start of joint media service provision, particularly around sharing industry information, continues to show that we are reducing duplication and clutter, while building cohesion for all stakeholders."

The communications teams of both organisations will henceforth distribute information jointly under the Australian Golf Media banner, streamlining that process and providing the appropriate contact point for each specific notification.

Golf Australia Chief Executive Stephen Pitt said it was an important and symbolic step as the organisations work towards reducing unnecessary waste and better use of limited resources.

Pitt added “both organisations and all of our constituents benefit when we can make golf stronger, so having a united voice and approach to our communications is really important.

"It shows just how committed both bodies are to work collaboratively to reduce fragmentation within the industry and we are sure that unity will benefit all who love golf in the long term."

The tournament delivery teams of both organisations are also advanced in discussions of shared operations and further updates will be provided in coming months.
