read moreMyrtha Pools has highlighted the central role it is playing at the upcoming 2025 World Aquatics Championships in Singapore, supplying and installing two world-class 50-metre pools at the newly developed World Aquatics Championships Arena (WCH Arena), located adjacent to the National Stadium.
The Italian company's pools will be used for both swimming and artistic swimming events at the highest level of international competition.
As an official partner of World Aquatics since 2009, Myrtha Pools brings over 60 years of technical expertise to the global stage. To date, 178 World Records have been set in Myrtha pools, a testament to the brand’s commitment to performance and innovation. For Singapore, two Olympic-standard, 3-metre deep pools have been delivered - one dedicated to competition and the other to warm-up - tailored to meet the highest demands of elite aquatics.
Building for Performance and Legacy
Utilising Myrtha’s exclusive modular stainless steel technology, the same system used for permanent installations, the Singapore pools combine the benefits of flexibility, precision, and sustainability. This technology is well suited also for temporary facilities, which are increasingly favoured by major sports organisations for their adaptability, reduced environmental footprint, and capacity to prevent the long-term obsolescence of 'white elephant' venues.
What sets these temporary pools apart is their post-event potential: designed for reinstallation, they will be relocated to local aquatic centres following the Championships, forming a lasting legacy for community sport and aquatics development in the region.
Smart by Design: Sustainability and Water Quality
In line with innovations presented at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the Singapore pools are equipped with Myrtha R-Evolution, a pioneering membrane made from 60% recycled materials and fully recyclable at the end of its life. Certified by RecyClass, the membrane represents a tangible step forward in circular construction methods and sustainable pool design.
Compared to traditional construction methods using concrete and tile, Myrtha’s installation in Singapore also achieves an impressive 45% reduction in carbon emissions.
In addition, Myrtha’s technologies can contribute to green building certifications such as LEED, BREEAM and Green Star in recognition of its environmental leadership. Most recently, the company received 3 product certifications from the Singapore Green Building Product (SGBP).
SGBP’s stringent evaluation criteria assess product sustainability across the entire lifecycle – from raw material sourcing to end-of-life recyclability – underscoring Myrtha’s role as an industry leader in responsible innovation.
The performance of the pool is crucial, especially during international competitions. Water clarity and perfect circulation are essential for both swimmers and TV audiences.
At the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore, water circulation is managed via Strahlenturbulenz, Myrtha’s advanced recirculation system based on the Venturi effect. The system uses sidewall inlets to ensure even, turbulence-free flow without the need for underfloor piping, creating ideal racing conditions for elite athletes.
