MKTG partners with World Surf League Australia
Sports and lifestyle marketing and operations business MKTG has announced a new partnership with the World Surf League Australia (WSL) that will see MKTG introduce and procure new and strategic brand partnerships to support the commercial growth of WSL.
Starting today, MKTG will actively work with the WSL, and introduce partnership opportunities to brands that are keen to innovate, align and resonate with the core values of surfing and leverage its global reach.
This WSL partnership expands MKTG's commercial relationships in the Australian sporting landscape, adding to long-standing relationships with the AFL, Cricket Australia, Football Australia and Victoria Racing Club.
Established in 1976, the WSL provides a platform for the world's most talented surfers to compete at famous surfing destinations, including Bells Beach, Margaret River and the Gold Coast, and in the sports' biggest events including the Men's and Women's World Championship Tours, the Big Wave Tour and the World Junior Championships.
The WSL, through its Studios arm, is also responsible for the production of exclusive unscripted content which is garnered through its unrestricted access to the world’s best surfers, events and locations. WSL Studios content is streamed free on WSL’s O&O platforms as well as third party streaming services including Apple TV and Kayo.
With year-round presence and global broadcast reach, the WSL already boasts some of the world's biggest brands as partners. The organisation prides itself on innovation and authenticity and uses the power of surfing and its loyal community, to inspire and create impact.
MKTG Asia Pacific Managing Director, Matt Connell notes "today's announcement with the WSL is an exciting new commercial relationship complementing our existing, long-term and successful track record in sport. WSL athletes and events represent some of the most marketable properties in sponsorship globally. Surfing is a powerful platform for marketers to develop authentic connections with consumers across surfing communities, and it scales to deliver mass impact and outcomes for brands aspiring to grow their business and reach this prized audience.
Speaking on the partnership, Scott Hargreaves, Commercial Director, of WSL Asia Pacific added "MKTG have clearly demonstrated their level of expertise and understanding of what is required to establish meaningful, authentic and strategic partnerships in sport. We are excited to align with MKTG and have all the confidence the partnership will deliver incremental value for our sport and to brands wanting to build their businesses on the back of professional surfing and our audience”.
