MegaAdventure Aerial Park opens in Adelaide
Australia’s first standalone aerial adventure park has opened at West Beach in the Adelaide Shores precinct in South Australia.
The new $2.5 million MegaAdventure Aerial Park - inspired by a British Army aerial assault training course - has today (27th November) welcomed more than 100 guests in undertaking its SkyChallenge.
Like future visitors will be able to, these guests climbed the SkyMate - a 26 metre high structure that boasts 50 crossings with individual activities including scramble nets, rope bridges, beams, swings, log steps, aerial surfboards, row boats and even Adelaide wine barrel steps. Each activity is graded like ski slopes that aim to challenge and excite alike in a fun and safe environment.
Alex Blyth, owner and Managing Director of the MegaAdventure Group said he was delighted to finally have the doors open for business, stating “we are so proud to launch today.
“It has been a massive team effort and we are thrilled with the final result.
“We are the first structure of its kind to launch in Australia and certainly one of the largest in the world.
“We have used the latest technology for not only the design and build, but for all the harnessing and equipment – your experience here really will be first class.”
The world-first mega structure aims to provide an unparalleled aerial experience to create the ultimate public ‘playground’ for all ages and has the capacity to hold additional crossings which will roll out over the coming months.
Bligh explained “there is no site welding in this structure, meaning that it can evolve, change and develop.
“We can surprise our guests with new crossings, themed areas that relate back to the events happening across the broader Adelaide area and it even has the capacity to build an additional 70 crossings.”
"It hasn't been done before - the number of features in this design makes it one of the largest in the world, and the technology used by the designers from Touch Cloud Global to build the SkyMate is the first of its kind – it’s groundbreaking.”
In terms of usage, Bligh sees that “MegaAdventure (will have) universal appeal.
“Whether you are an individual or a family, a corporate group looking for an innovative team building session, a kid, tween or teen exploring your boundaries or simply an adventurer at heart, you will be able to access exciting challenges that are simply not readily available in your everyday life.”
The SkyMate is accessible for people of all ages and has been constructed using stringent safety features and is compliant with International Safety Standards.
Adelaide Shores Chief Executive Kate Williams is enthusiastic about the adventure attraction, stating “as the first of its kind in Australia, this development adds a new depth to the extensive range of family-friendly activities already on offer at Adelaide Shores.
“We believe it will generate significant tourism interest and put South Australia on the map for people looking for that unique adventure experience they can’t find in other states.”
The attraction also aims to services service corporate and educational functions along with special events.
MegaAdventure Aerial Park Corporate and Groups Manager, Jane Altschwager (the former Diamonds netballer) adds “MegaAdventure is perfect for businesses who are looking for something new and exciting to do with their employees and clients.
“Early bookings and interest have been really exciting.”
Other offerings at MegaAdventure include a kiosk, bungy trampoline called MegaBounce and the SkyWalk, which allows access to the top viewing deck of the SkyMate.
MegaAdventure is located within Adelaide Shores on the corner of Military Road and Hamra Avenue in West Beach.
