LIVE! Singapore 2011 to connect Asian performing arts market with the world
April 7, 2011

LIVE! Singapore will see leaders in performing arts gather for a global professional performing arts exchange over three days.

Performing arts enthusiasts in Asia Pacific are all geared up for the highly anticipated return of LIVE! Singapore, the premier global performing arts exchange which made its successful debut last year.

To be held from 1st to 3rd June 2011, the second edition of the global performing arts exchange will once again provide a platform for performing arts professionals and organizations to exchange ideas, promote business and network with over 1,500 leading performing artists, practitioners, managers, producers, agents and executives from Asia and around the world.

Progressing from its successful debut, LIVE! Singapore 2011 this year looks beyond individual performing arts genres and focuses on business issues that relate to all performing arts professionals internationally. Attracting world-class performing arts experts and artists, this year's event offers two distinctive discussion formats, held across two premier arts venues ï¾ LIVE! Unplugged at The Arts House (1st June) and LIVE! Conference and Trade Fair at Marina Bay Sands (2nd and 3rd June).

LIVE! Unplugged features a line-up of intimate roundtable sessions alongside high caliber international showcases while LIVE! Conference and Trade Fair presents a power-packed conference and an international trade fair, highlighted by a spectacular line-up of showcase performances with some of the best names in performing arts.

As the perfect platform to create and extend professional opportunities for the regional performing arts industry, LIVE! Singapore 2011 will be the stage for the official premiere of the world's first martial arts mega musical, currently named as "Project IX". Inspired by a true story, the new musical will bring together an international creative cast and production team from London's West End and Asia Pacific.

An Asian musical for the world, 'Project IX' producers Robert Vicencio and Hong-Ming Wang are calling for the region's talents to participate in this world-class and innovative dual-language musical. Auditions to uncover aspiring young performers will be held from 24-25 March 2011 in Singapore, at the Singapore Repertory Theatre.

LIVE! Singapore 2011 will also continue to draw world renowned talents from across Asia. Among the star showcases making an appearance at LIVE! Singapore is internationally acclaimed star of the mega hit Miss Saigon, Sojung Lee, and fusion music group, SiTARFUNK, led by gifted instrumentalist and rising star in Indian classical music, Niladri Kumar.

Cutting across boundaries
This year's conference program will feature an expanded focus spanning several performing arts genres including dance, music and theatre; providing the perfect opportunity for professionals in the arts industry to share common issues and challenges that cut across the business of performing arts.

Featuring an impressive line-up of international experts from across the industry, participants at the LIVE! Conference can look forward to a variety of topics, delivered across two dedicated streams covering the growth and development of arts infrastructure, and industry trends and upcoming markets.

Delivering the opening keynote address, Sydney Opera House Chief Executive Richard Evans, will shed insight on the role of the arts in urban renewal and development. Over the next two days, he will be joined by a host of esteemed performing arts experts such as Seol Doyun, Chief Executive of Seol & Company; Darko Brlek, President of the European Festival Association; Robert Baird, President of BAM! Baird Artists Management and Michael Cassel, Director International of Disney Theatre Group, to discuss current issues in the development of arts in Asia.
