Kim Ellis to lead NSW’s new parks agency
Kim Ellis has been appointed as the inaugural Executive Director of Sydney's Parklands and Botanic Gardens, the new NSW agency managing Sydney’s most high profile public parks and botanic gardens.
Ellis, who had been Director and Chief Executive of Sydney's Centennial Parklands since 2011, has extensive experience in leading diverse, high profile public businesses through strategic reforms to deliver transformational change. After a 20 year career in the Australian Army in logistics leadership roles, including support of the Australian scientific research expedition in Antarctica, he held senior positions in publicly and privately owned airports delivering major infrastructure projects prior to leading Centennial Parklands.
In his time at Centennial Parklands, he has created a vibrant, customer focused and sustainable network of public environmental assets.
In this new role, Ellis will lead the integration of the operational, technical, administrative and asset management services of the Royal Botanic Gardens and Domain Trust and the Centennial Park and Moore Park Trust, while maintaining their scientific excellence, custodial responsibilities and financial viability.
Sydney’s Parklands and Botanic Gardens is Sydney’s harbourside to mountaintop green space network, delivering world-class education, entertainment, botanic research, sport and recreation to the community.
