The Northern Territory's ultra-adventure race - the Katherine Ultra Marathon – which begins at Katherine’s stunning Nitmiluk National Park on 7th August, is encouraging entries from people of all abilities.

While only members of the Katherine Multisports Club are eligible to register for the Katherine Ultra 2021, the event is shaping up as a must-do event for determined athletes and will include five different legs.

Athletes can race individually or as teams of two to six as they tackle roughly 100km of spectacular Territory landscapes.

The challenge, which includes a 3km swim, 14km trail run, 40-plus km road bike ride, 18km mountain bike ride and 10km road run, encourages entries from people of all abilities.

Beginners can team up to tackle different legs, while elite athletes face the entire challenge solo.

Competitors in this year’s event will get to use world-class mountain bike tracks crisscrossing Nitmiluk’s Southern Escarpment, and can camp at the park among some of the best natural beauty and wildlife the Territory has to offer.

The Katherine Ultra Marathon is supported through Northern Territory Major Events Company with Minister for Major Events Natasha Fyles noting “The Katherine Ultra Marahton has a keen following among Australia’s best athletes, but what is especially great about this event is that non-elite athletes can take part too.

“This race embraces the spectacular scenery of one of the Territory’s top locations.

“Spots fill up quickly with interest from around the country as people look to combine this experience with a Territory holiday.”
