read moreThe Shire of Kalamunda's Kalamunda Waterpark reopened just before Christmas having undergone more than $3 million in refurbishments.
The park was closed at the beginning of 2010 after it was discovered extensive electrical, filtration and pool upgrades were needed at the 30-year-old facility.
Management of the waterpark has been handed over to the YMCA of Perth.
Shire of Kalamunda President Donald McKechnie told The West Australian newspaper that the changing rooms, kiosk and facility manager's office had all been refurbished while the toddlers' pool had been upgraded and the filtration repaired in the main and junior pools.
McKechnie stated "significant works have been undertaken on the facility in order to renew its life, and that, combined with a fresh approach to the management of the facility, is expected to be well received by the community."
The park, previously known as Kalamunda Wet'n'Wild, includes a spa pool, 50 metre pool, a learners' pool, splash pools, mother and baby pool and two tube slides.
