New Zealand insurer Sovereign has launched the country's first loyalty programme that will reward people for their everyday health choices including getting out for a walk, heading to the gym or simply doing a fresh grocery shop.

In a bold move aimed at motivating New Zealanders to take charge of their health and wellbeing and help create a healthier nation, the innovative programme, Healthy by Sovereign, gives Kiwis access to rewards and an annual cash-back based on points they earn for everyday healthy behaviours.

Partnering with leading health and wellbeing brands including Fitbit, Garmin, Club Physical, Next Gen, Configure Express, Jetts and New World, Healthy by Sovereign members can earn points across a number of areas including movement, exercise, nutrition and general wellbeing.

Sovereign Chief Marketing and Strategy Officer, Chris Lamers says the programme is a game-changer for the industry, shifting the way Kiwis interact with their health cover.

Lamers explains “Healthy by Sovereign is changing the face of the health insurance industry. Now you don’t have to claim on your health insurance policy to enjoy the benefits. Every time you work out at the gym, get moving with an activity tracker, do a fresh grocery shop, or get a check-up at your dentist or doctor, you’ll be rewarded for it.

“The programme has been designed to motivate and support Kiwis on their health journey and help create a healthier nation as a whole. You don’t have to make big changes to start earning Healthy Points. Just make a few healthy choices and watch your points grow. How far you go and how much you earn is up to you."

Available to new and existing Sovereign health insurance customers, as members earn points they’ll receive increasing levels of rewards including up to $100 cash-back each year and up to $125 in gym vouchers.

Healthy Points can be earned by tracking steps taken each day, working out at partner gyms, fresh food shops at New World, and getting an annual check-up at the GP and dentist.
