Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre achieves highest ever score in Aquatic Facility Safety Audit
Sydney’s Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre have achieved their highest ever score in Royal Life Saving Society - Australia’s annual Aquatic Facility Safety Audit, retaining their 5-star rating among aquatic facilities in NSW.
Based on an annual assessment undertaken on Thursday 7th March, the Centre’s pool supervision practices, compliance in administration and documentation including risk assessments, operations manuals, training calendars and plans, qualification compliance and policies and procedures, facility design and maintenance and various other operations elements were all tested
The Centre achieved an outstanding score of 98%, ranking slightly higher than their achievement of 94% in 2018.
Explaining that, as one NSW’s leading aquatic centres, patrons can feel reassured knowing that they are in safe hands when visiting the facility, Centre Manager Scott Vanderheyden stated “this could not have been achieved without the hard work and attention by everyone in the team to continually improve and implement safe strategies to ensure that the community can enjoy our Centre and be safe every day.”
The facility has also recently unveiled the latest in locker tehnology, as installed by METRA Australia.
The METRA designed and installed High-Pressure Laminate (HPL) personal lockers, securely accessed via METRA Kiosk Touchscreen and central RFID reader terminal deliver the highest level of security for patron’s personal possessions.
Patrons and staff can also enjoy the convenience of payWave® cashless payments for locker rental.
