Health insurer HBF secures naming rights for Perth’s NIB Stadium

Health insurer HBF secures naming rights for Perth’s NIB Stadium
November 19, 2018

Health insurance company HBF has agreed to acquire the naming rights for Perth’s nib Stadium, adding to its stable of Western Australian venues.

The stadium, which has been sponsored by fellow health insurance company nib since 2010, will be rebranded as HBF Park on 1st January.

The 20,000 capacity venue serves as the home of A-League football club Perth Glory and rugby’s Western Force and has regularly hosted high-profile music events, with Paul McCartney and the Foo Fighters having recently performed there in recent years.

Nib Stadium underwent extensive redevelopment work in 2013, with new eastern and southern grandstands built and electronic scoreboards installed. More than 1.1 million people have attended events at the stadium since the redevelopment, with a record entertainment crowd of 32,000 turning out to see Ed Sheeran in 2015.

VenuesWest, the stadium’s owner and operator, said revenue generated by the HBF deal would be used to support high-performance sport, community clubs and enhance the Western Australian Government’s facilities.

Commenting on the deal, Western Australian Sport and Recreation Minister, Mick Murray stated “I would like to thank HBF for their ongoing support and commitment towards sport and health in Western Australia.

“This agreement will help the State Government support high performance sport, grassroots clubs, and enhance our facilities for the thousands of Western Australians who attend venues each year.

“HBF is a WA-owned company and I welcome their support of State Government venues, for the benefit of community clubs and local sporting organisations.”
