Goodlife launches Australian-first app technology

Goodlife launches Australian-first app technology
November 30, 2015

Goodlife Health Clubs is set to launch an Australian-first app that consolidates multiple tracking devices into one dashboard, providing a single-view of a user’s health and fitness.

As of tonight (30th November) Australians can now download the ‘Goodlife App’ and sync the data from their wearables and apps to make setting goals and tracking progress easier and more efficient.

The Goodlife App is fully compatible with Fitbit, Jawbone UP, MapMyRun, Nike+, MyFitnessPal, RunKeeper, Moves, Withings and Facebook, with further integrations to be released in 2016.

The app also features Optical Character Recognition (OCR) where users can take a photo of their machine console with time, distance and calorie information, which is then automatically uploaded to their profile.

Goodlife Health Clubs Head of Digital Delivery, Adam Skinner, said the app, which will be available on iOS and Android, forms a key part of the gym chain’s digital roadmap that will continue to evolve over the coming months.

Skinner explained “the Goodlife App is a compelling addition to our business and allows us to provide an enhanced fitness experience for members and non-members, both in and beyond the gym.

“Phase two, due for release next year, will offer social personalisation, class bookings, exclusive content, electronic check-in, payments integration and gamification.”

The app release rounds out a year of milestones for Goodlife, following the launch its new website and e-commerce platform, plus the roll-out of 24.7 access across more than 30 of its 76 clubs.

Goodlife Health Clubs Head of Marketing, Jay Baikie, said the launch of the app was another instrumental step in providing innovative tools that help people lead healthier and more active lives, adding “through consumer research we have been able to understand the insatiable hunger the Australian public has for fitness apps.

“Catering to this demand, we have built an app that provides seamless integration across devices while also creating new ways to add value and enhance the traditional gym experience.

“The launch of the new Goodlife App is further testament to the pioneering spirit that underpins everything we do – from our industry-leading fitness programs and facilities to our unparalleled customer service.”

Goodlife partnered with Netpulse on the custom-branded app platform, which is also used by some of the largest gym franchises in the US including Gold’s Gym, Planet Fitness and Orangetheory.
