Gold Coast theme parks reopen after Cyclone Alfred closure

Gold Coast theme parks reopen after Cyclone Alfred closure
March 12, 2025

Following disruption related to Tropical Cyclone Alfred last week the Gold Coast’s major theme parks reopened as of yesterday.

Dreamworld, WhiteWater World, SkyPoint, Warner Bros. Movie World, Sea World, Wet’n’Wild, Australian Outback Spectacular, Paradise Country and Topgolf all resumed operations as of Tuesday.

In a statement, Dreamworld advised “after clearing debris and conducting rigorous safety checks, we are excited to welcome guests back"

“While the cyclone brought some wild weather, we are grateful to have experienced only minimal impact.

“During the peak of the weather event, our Giant Drop ride recorded wind gusts of up to 138 km/h, highlighting the extreme conditions faced across the region."

Village Roadshow Theme Parks confirmed that critical teams at Sea World and Paradise Country cared for animals and monitoring infrastructure, including water quality and life support systems, throughout the closure.

Dreamworld has also extended annual passes by seven days and set up charging stations for visitors affected by power outages, ensuring a smooth return for guests.
