Focus on security at 2017 Australian Event Symposium
The 2017 Australian Event Symposium will see a strong focus on security, with a range of workshops to help organisers keep up-to-date on keeping events as safe as possible.
Linked with the Australian Event Awards and being held on the Sunshine Coast from 13th to 15th September, the security-focussed sessions sit within a larger program for the Event Symposium, a two-day gathering for the Australian events industry to build skills and connections.
Other topics to be covered at the conference include multiculturalism in events, the events-tourism relationship, using events to enhance brand exposure, live streaming and 3D projection mapping.
Key speakers/sessions include:
Travis Semmens, licensed security consultant and Managing Director of Australian Concert And Entertainment Security Group, will deliver a session on event security covering everything from identifying the security needs of an event to developing the Event Security Management Plan with a licensed consultant and implementing it on the ground at the event.
Aldo Raineri, discipline leader in occupational health and safety at CQ University, will cover crowd safety, exploring identification of crowd safety risks, how to analyse crowd behaviour and how to put crowd safety strategies into practice at an event.
Josh Lemon, Senior Manager in Salesforce’s international Computer Security Incident Response Team, will deliver an In Focus session providing an overview of cyber security in events, looking at why cyber security matters to events, how cyber criminals are targeting major events and what organisers can do to protect their event.
The Symposium will include keynote presentations from Hollywood screenwriter Bobby Galinsky, Opera Australia artistic director Lyndon Terracini, Tourism Australia’s Penny Lion, as well as a panel of Event Awards Lifetime Achievement Award winners including David Atkins and Lena Malouf.
