Behind the scenes of the annual Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne, in March this year Eventfloor Australia helped APP Corporation deliver a range of grass protection and portable flooring solutions.

APP, which specialises in facilitating major events, is contracted by the Australian Grand Prix Corporation (AGPC) to provide engineering project management services for the Grand Prix.

Responsible for the temporary overlay for the event at Melbourne's Albert Park, APP Events/Project Director Noel Landry called in Eventfloor Australia for grass protection and portable flooring.

As Landry explains "Albert Park is open to everyone and also has play areas for children.

"In this kind of situation, safety is top priority during construction (and) we also had to make sure everything was constructed in time, which we once again managed."

Vulnerable areas where people had to walk across were protected with Pro-Floor, temporary flooring made for pedestrian use, with Landry explaining "to make the grounds also look attractive, we used different colours, which is also good for our branding."

Profloor Portable Flooring's Pro-Track, a more durable product, was used in the play areas, on sports fields, in the food and beverage areas, and high-traffic areas.

Landry adds "we wanted to make sure that the playgrounds and areas used by the sports clubs were optimally protected.

"We only take on large projects, like this Grand Prix, so we always need lots of metres. So it goes without saying that we only work with the big players in the market.

"Eventfloor is one such player (and) we've been using (them) for years for this and they did a great job once again this year.

"We're extremely pleased with their dedicated support. (They are) a great partner.

"They comply with all safety regulations, fill any last-minute special requests without a problem, and are always there to help us out.

"Our contact, Adam Riordan, did a great job. He advised us about which flooring would be most suitable for the different conditions. And he's extremely reliable (and) he always keeps his word."

As for the future, APP expect to work with Eventfloor again in the future.

As Landry concludes "we have a running contract, but we would absolutely invite them to tender as well. The contact is good, they deliver good products, and their prices are alright.

"We look forward to the next joint project (as) we are extremely grateful for the dedicated support of Eventfloor."
