The Exhibition and Event Association of Australasia (EEAA) will celebrate International Women’s Day 2021 on Thursday 4th March, broadcast live from the Connected Event Studio in Chippendale.

Exploring the #ChoosetoChallenge theme, a panel of inspirational speakers will acknowledge the valuable contribution of women in business events and take its messages to a bigger audience across Australia.

Claudia Sagripanti, EEAA Chief Executive notes “we have taken our International Women’s Day event online this year to give everyone in our industry an opportunity to come together and recognise the incredible talent pool in our industry, and the ability to reinvent and transform.

“This year’s IWD event will bring together a panel of experienced businesswomen who shine in their work and their approach to their careers.

“We are delighted to have secured Simone Allan (pictured above), a standout keynote speaker along with a panel of leaders from various sectors of the business events industry.”

Under the #ChoosetoChallenge theme, speakers will discuss practical solutions for women to take leadership positions and for organisations to create a culture that fosters equal opportunity, particularly important as the business events industry is predominantly female.

The keynote will be delivered by Simone Allan, social entrepreneur, businesswoman and advocate for women. She is Director of The Mentor Evolution - a mentor matching platform; and Mondo Search - an executive search consultancy. Her ‘true north’ project is The Women’s Resilience Centre that brings together many initiatives that champion women’s health, sustainable long-term trauma recovery and holistic programs around mental health.

The EEAA has also secured a strong line-up of inspiring speakers to join the panel – including international panelist Stephanie Selesnick from International Trade Information, and local panelists Marie Kinsella from International Exhibitions and Conference Group and Peggy Reevell from the Australian Council for Education Leaders. Led by Claudia Sagripanti, together they will unpack the 2021 IWD global theme - #Choose to Challenge.

EEAA President, Spiro Anemogiannis said that he was proud that the EEAA created this event in 2014 and has committed to putting the spotlight on the important role women play in the events sector.

Anemogiannis advises “the Association has demonstrated future-focussed leadership in helping to create a culture in our industry that fosters equal opportunity and recognises outstanding talent. This year, two new female members were elected to the EEAA board, Libbie Ray, Director, Connected Event Group and Elissa Duke from Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, joining Felicity Zadro, Managing Director, Zadro Agency, bringing greater gender balance to the 13-person Executive Committee. In addition, long-standing board member, Helen Mantellato of ICC Sydney became Vice-President.

Sagripanti continued “we will again continue our focus on Corporate Social Responsibility with the support of two important charities, Fitted For Work and UN Women Australia and we invite all attendees to make a contribution towards improving the lives of women in our community.

The EEAA encourages registrations from both Members and non-members, offering attendees the opportunity to come together online to celebrate this important event and support this global initiative toward equality.
