Ecoline launches tree-based rollercoaster zip line

Ecoline launches tree-based rollercoaster zip line
November 13, 2014

Adventure tourism operator Ecoline is set to unveil EcoZip, the world's longest tree-based rollercoaster zip line, to an international audience at next week's International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) Annual Convention and Trade Show in Orlando, Florida.

Developed by Ecoline on the NSW Central Coast, and due to open to the public at the TreeTop Adventure Park near Ourimbah in the coming days, the 1 kilometre long attraction takes participants on a twisting, turning, zig zagging and looping journey around the trees, delivering an original and exhilarating adventure tourism experience.

Introducing the attraction, Ecoline General Manager Sandrine Gaymard explains “customers are blown away by the feelings this new experience provides.

"They want to share this with others and come back for more with their friends and family.”

Founded in 1998, Ecoline is the business behing the award-winning TreeTop Adventure Park attractions in NSW, with three sites operating in Sydney and on the NSW Central Coast. These attractions make use of their EcoTrack continuous belay system.

Headed by Gaymard and her husband and company Managing Director Frederic Galimard, Ecoline has also designed high ropes adventure courses for seven other operators along with canopy tours and tree houses providing unique and challenging custom-made adventures and educational experiences.

Galimard explains "our goal is to create ‘wow’ experiences that get people of all ages and abilities outdoors, having fun and pushing their own boundaries. EcoZip is suitable for a large range of ages and physical abilities.

"It’s also fully accessible, (even) wheelchair users can experience the EcoZip rollercoaster zip line.”

In developing their own safety system for EcoZip, the couple are offering a highly innovative adventure and eco tourism experience that they believe has considerable sales potential, in Australia, New Zealand and internationally.

Underpinned by their exemplary safety record, the EcoZip safety system consists of specifically designed pipes suspended from trees and patented Ecoline designed pulleys.

Galimard adds “EcoZip has been in development for two years in Australia. We are incredibly proud of this innovation and to have the ability to design a system that is the longest in the world.

"No one else has come close to Ecoline’s achievement.”

EcoZip's development was backed by $200,000 in funding from the Federal Government Tourism Industry Regional Development Funding program.

Ecoline's high ropes course at Sydney's Taronga Zoo is also expected to open in the coming weeks.
