Gold Coast theme park Dreamworld opened its news DreamWorks Experience precinct in time for the Easter weekend.

The new 8,400 metre2 DreamWorks Experience precinct has transformed the heart of the theme park, and welcomed guests today into the very worlds of their favourite animated characters, inspired by the iconic DreamWorks Animation SKG, Inc. films.

DreamWorks Animation Chief Executive Jeffrey Katzenberg explained "Dreamworld has done a fantastic job of creating quality entertainment experiences for their customers and we look forward to joining forces with the largest theme park in Australia, a hugely important market for us.

"The alliance between Dreamworld and DreamWorks represents yet another opportunity for families across the globe to interact with our characters in new and exciting ways."

Dreamworld Chief Executive Todd Coates added "we knew that DreamWorks Animation would create some wonderful lands and you can see this in the detail of the design work. Guests will absolutely feel as though they are wandering through the lands made famous in DreamWorks Animation films."

Guests start their journey at the DreamWorks Experience entrance before crossing a bridge and arriving in Madagascar Madness, an overgrown jungle where chimps hang from vines, penguins are on a wild mission with King Julien in charge.

Madagascar Madness is an action-packed family haven, with oodles of added fun, including newly themed rides and attractions, a live stage show featuring some of the films famous characters.

Bursting at the seams with family fun rides and attractions, Shrek's Faire Faire Away is all themed around the lovable ogre and his friends.

Swoop, pounce and spin on one of four newly themed rides, or enjoy one of the numerous cheeky photo spots including Shrek's family photo, the bubbling bath and the Shrek babies. You can even meet Shrek himself along with Princess Fiona and Puss in Boots.

Having conquered all that is to do in Faire Faire Away, guests enter a land where legendary dragon warrior, Po, can be found. Po's Garden will be completed in late 2012 featuring brand new rides and attractions.
