Christchurch Adventure Park to celebrate its first spring
The Christchurch Adventure Park is preparing to celebrate the coming of spring with a party for the whole community.
Despite first opening in December 2016, this year will be the first time that the Christchurch Adventure Park (CAP) has been open during the spring months, with General Manager Anne Newman explaining “to be heading into spring for the first time is hugely exciting for us.
"Due to our forced closure following the Port Hills Fires, we have now twice opened the Park in December, but have never actually experienced spring. We know from experience how much the Park is pumping during the summer months but we can't wait to see people making the most of those beautiful Christchurch spring days by getting outdoors and experiencing all that CAP has to offer."
To mark the milestone and celebrate the change to new summer hours (9am to 9pm), CAP will come to life over the weekend of 29th and 30th September with events, demontstrations, entertainment, and special offers.
Newman advises "we want to use this opportunity to celebrate how far we've come and to thank the community for their support along the way. We are planning a party that promises a festival atmosphere and plenty of fun for the whole family.
"This is also the weekend that our new pricing structure will come into affect. We have listened to the community and made some significant changes to some of our ticket and package offers, now that we have a better understanding of how the public wants to be able to use the Park.”
The new pricing structutre sees the introduction of a monthly membership option, similar to a gym membership and perfect for those regular riders who would rather not pay for an annual membership upfront.
The Annual Pass for those who choose to pay for the full year upfront will become the 'Gold Shredder Pass' and comes with VIP benefits including 10% discount on retail and café (excluding alcohol).
New ‘Buddy Passes’ will allow members to bring a friend to the Park on a day pass.
Adult Annual Passes remain at $1,200 but the rates for youths, seniors and students have been significantly reduced rates: $600 for youths under 17 years, $900 for students/seniors.
Newman adds "in fact we are introducing half-price youth tickets on most of our products - other than the zipline which remains $130 for adults and $90 for children, and a quarter off adult prices for seniors and students.
"We love seeing adventure-seekers of all ages in the Park, and these reduced rates will make it more accessible for everyone. These discounts for youth, students and seniors will replace the 10% discount for locals, which we found was very rarely used.
"We are (also) removing one of our current products, the 3 Uplift Pass, because other options will provide a better rate; and the 10 Uplift Pass will increase in price to $200 but also increase in validity from three months to a year in response to customer feedback."
CAP will also be able to offer its first full Summer Pass this year, as both previous summers have been cut short.
Reforestation efforts are underway at the Park, following the February 2017 fires that destroyed over 2,000 hectares of forest and farmland on the Port Hills. CAP has been focusing its fundraising efforts on supporting Te Tapuwae o Rakau Trust to restore areas of native forest on the Port Hills,
