Cameron Murray appointed as Chief Executive of Paralympics Australia

Cameron Murray appointed as Chief Executive of Paralympics Australia
November 13, 2024

Paralympics Australia has appointed Cameron Murray as their new Chief Executive following his successful tenure acting in the role since July 2024.

Murray joined Paralympics Australia as Head of Commercial, Communications and Brand in September 2022, bringing more than 25 years’ experience in senior leadership, commercial and sports management roles. Murray also has strong experience successfully contributing to major international multi-sport events including the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games and the Paris 2024 Paralympics.

Murray shared “I’m honoured to lead Paralympics Australia into this new era as we create more opportunities for the next generation of Para-athletes and work towards a home Games in 2032.

“After the successful delivery of our Paris 2024 campaign, we are now focussed on delivering a world-leading environment for our Para-athletes to thrive, and on strengthening the Australian Paralympic Movement by building our connection with the community.”

Murray said the Federal Government’s recent funding commitment delivered by Minister for Sport, Anika Wells, to address inequities for Para-sports in the high-performance system will help ensure Paralympics Australia achieves this commitment.

Murray added “these are exciting times, but there is still much more work to do to evolve our commercial operations to sustain and expand the Paralympic movement beyond 2032 and ensure more Australians with a disability can pursue their dreams through Para-sport.

“Working alongside the incredible team at Paralympics Australia to balance these priorities and to deliver new ways to make an enduring impact is what makes me so humbled and inspired to lead this amazing organisation.”

Paralympics Australia President Alison Creagh said Murray’s proven ability to lead and to deliver strong outcomes underlined his suitability for this role.

Creagh advised “we are preparing for a decade of transformation that demands stability, strong leadership and a forward-thinking approach. Cameron has demonstrated these qualities to us which is why the Paralympics Australia Board is confident that he is best placed to take us forward.

“Having guided Paralympics Australia through Paris 2024 by managing what is a complex operation and achieving results, we’re depending on Cameron now to capitalise on the momentum we are building to create a lasting legacy for Para-sport in Australia, particularly as we head towards the Brisbane 2032 Paralympic Games.

“The future holds incredible promise for us and we look forward to what Cameron and the team will achieve.”
