Boroondara sports facilities to benefit from $3.1 million funding boost
The Victorian Government is to contribute $3.1 million in funding to upgrade aquatic, recreation and sport facilities in Melbourne's inner southeast.
Funded by the Community Facility Funding Program, the projects are:
• $3 million to redevelop the Ashburton Pool and Recreation Centre including upgrades to the pool's plant equipment, reconfiguration of program rooms, expansion of the gym, new fitness rooms, change rooms, accessible lift, and new outdoor play area for the crèche;
• $82,500 to replace existing cricket nets at Eric Raven Reserve, Glen Iris, with a multi-purpose synthetic surface training facility for local cricket and lacrosse; and
• $50,000 to install lighting for Ashburton United Soccer Club at Watson Park in Ashburton.
Announcing the contributions, Victorian Minister for Sport and Recreation Hugh Delahunty stated "facilities like these are important community assets where people can get together, learn important skills including learn-to-swim, exercise, train and represent their communities in the sports they love."
