Blue Fitness Excited by Star Trac Changes

Blue Fitness Excited by Star Trac Changes
January 27, 2011

Blue Fitness Australia Managing Director Emmett Williams says he is excited about the recent change of ownership of the fitness brand, Star Trac.

In a statement Williams explained that "the purchase by Core Industries gives Star Trac huge manufacturing advantages going forward. Now that the company is well capitalised, Star Trac is in a position to continue the innovation it has been renowned for and exit the period of consolidation that hallmarked 2010 for many within the global manufacturing industry."

Unisen Inc., the original owner of Star Trac, began operation in 1988 and, over the last decade, became the fastest growing brand in international fitness manufacturing according to IHRSA studies. Williams says this strategy, in conjunction with the Global Financial Crisis, meant a "changing of the guard" was required.

Assets of Star Trac were acquired in 2010 and are now owned by Michael Bruno's company, Core Industries. In an effort to further stabilise the company Bruno decided in November of 2010 to take the company through the process of 'Assignment for the Benefit of Creditors'.

Williams explains "Michael Bruno is a well established figure in the trans-global manufacturing of high quality fitness equipment and has an impeccable relationship world-wide.

"On the coalface, nothing has changed, and our customers have not been greatly affected, if at all."

Star Trac and its global distributors, including Blue Fitness have noted that all warranties, purchase orders, and customer related agreements have been assigned to Core industries and will be honoured.

Williams adds that "looking forward into 2011, Star Trac has a number of new product updates and releases commencing at the annual IHRSA Trade show in San Francisco and will be shown for the first time in the Southern Hemisphere at FILEX in April."

Meanwhile, Star Trac and Mad Dogg Athletics, creator of the Spinning line of kit, have extended their partnership by signing an additional 10-year co-marketing agreement.

As a result of the deal, the two companies will collectively market and distribute Spinner bikes and Spinning programming and education worldwide while Star Trac will remain the exclusive commercial equipment provider for the Spinner line of bikes.
