Big Year for Belgravia Leisure

Big Year for Belgravia Leisure
December 21, 2009

Belgravia Leisure has reported that 2009 has been "a year of stellar growth and achievement."

Chief Executive Adrian Johnston explains that "in 2009 Belgravia Leisure grew by 25% (and) in a year that saw most companies contract or at best tread water we achieved a gain of 18 new centres across four states."

Johnston added that "we were proud to welcome The City of Onkaparinga, The Barossa Council, Moorabool Shire Council, Nillumbik Shire Council, Yarra Ranges Shire Council, Bathurst Regional Council, and Gold Coast City Council to the Belgravia Leisure network."

Belgravia Leisure currently manages 47 aquatic centres, 24 health clubs, 17 sports stadiums, 11 golf courses and tennis centres, six hospitality venues and a day spa with more than 40 local and state government authorities as "valued clients".

Johnston continues "these venues are located in major cities and in smaller regional centres across five states and one territory.

"At present Belgravia Leisure boasts A tremendous outcome of this growth is the staff retention achieved at all sites through transition with over 95% of existing staff electing to take up positions and remain with us. The growth and diversity has also built upon an already strong career path for our existing staff as promotion and transfer opportunities were presented.

"The first Belgravia Leisure Graduate Program participant has completed his program and has taken up a position of centre manager at one of our Victorian sites. The 2010 intake of graduates will commence their program just after Christmas. This program is complimented by the traineeships offered to staff ensuring professional development at all levels.

"In order to resource and support our ever growing family Belgravia Leisure has invested in expanding the centralised administrative hub at Bayswater, Victoria. Additional staff and upgraded software platforms have ensured a high level of back office centre support has been maintained.

"At the State level two new regional operations managers have been appointed in Victoria and South Australia to ensure that our renowned responsiveness and client support is maintained to the highest level.

"Belgravia Leisure continues to invest in the centres we manage in partnership with Councils across Australia. Of particular note in 2009 has been the opening of the redeveloped fitness facilities at Albany Creek Leisure Centre along with the improved cafe and children's program areas at Cleveland Aquatic Centre. We have several more capital improvement partnerships in progress for 2010 and are always on the lookout for the next opportunity."
