Melbourne Airport’s first health club and wellness centre, 'Higher State', to be managed by Belgravia Leisure, has opened today located within easy walking distance from Terminal 4.

Higher State is located within Melbourne Airport’s brand-new, duel-branded Novotel and ibis Styles hotels and offers weary travellers, hotel guests, airport staff and local community residents a convenient and elevated wellness offering.

The health club and wellness centre today buzzed with activity as the first guests - including former AFLW footballer and seven network commentator Abbey Holmes - enjoyed all the space has to offer.

The 24/7 health club and wellness centre offers a sanctuary that includes a full health club/gym set up, functional training, personal training, group exercise classes, Reformer Pilates and a yoga space.  

With additional features of a 25metre indoor pool, infrared sauna, a meditation pod, compression recovery, virtual sessions as well as signature wellness treatments offered by a fully trained Therapist, guests can find time to focus on themselves while discovering a relaxing state of wellbeing.

Belgravia Leisure - an Australian owned acclaimed health and fitness provider - will manage the venue, drawing on their knowledge of managing over 60 health clubs across Australia and New Zealand, as well as their spa and wellness offerings such as Hepburn Bathhouse and Spa in Daylesford, Victoria.

Belgravia Leisure Wellness Expert Bree Melotte worked closely with the team to ensure that various Higher State offerings are tailored to the needs of travellers and advised “It is well known that air passengers can be prone to undesirable effects on the body including fatigue, jet lag, insomnia and even digestive issues.

“Our massages significantly boost circulation, increasing the blood flow meaning more oxygen is delivered to tired muscles, promoting faster recovery and a reduction in fatigue. Additionally, our compression recovery offering uses air to massage a traveller’s legs, glutes and lower back areas to provide a deep pressure and relaxing massage – the perfect post flight care plan.

“Many of us also experience a loss of moisture in our skin thanks to the dry air that is circulating on board. A post-flight facial is the perfect remedy for this, as while water hydrates the surface of the skin, a facial will drive the moisture deep into the skin and hold it there. We can’t wait for our guests to leave us glowing, relaxed and full of endorphins, the happy chemicals.”
