Bathurst’s Winter Festival 2020 to include Drive in Cinema

Bathurst’s Winter Festival 2020 to include Drive in Cinema
June 22, 2020

With a theme of 'Experience it Differently', the 2020 Bathurst Winter Festival will be held from 4th to 19th July 2020 across the two weeks of the school holidays with a combination of both online and physical experiences including a Drive in Cinema.

In order to adapt to the current health and safety recommendations issued by NSW Health, the Winter Festival will be tailored to social distancing measures with some festival experiences either enjoyed online or in the warmth of your own car.

The Festival, a marquee event and a popular shared experience for many Bathurst locals also supports local businesses and the local entertainment industry.

While the Winter Festival will look quite different this year, Bathurst will still come together to celebrate by feasting on regional food, listening to online music gigs from local artists and immersing in the magic illumination light display.

The biggest change for 2020 is the removal of the Winter Playground including the McDonald’s Bathurst Ice Rink which has been replaced with a Drive in Cinema sponsored by McDonald's Bathurst at Mount Panorama.

Bathurst Mayor Bobby Bourke said Council had partnered with McDonald’s Bathurst to bring the drive-in cinema to the community.

“McDonald’s Bathurst has supported the Bathurst Winter Festival in previous years by sponsoring the ice rink and I’m very pleased this partnership will continue.

“The drive-in will offer a nostalgic, yet new experience for our community to enjoy some of their favourite movies.”

When participating in activities, people are asked to maintain social distancing and to not attend any activity if feeling unwell or experiencing flu like symptoms.
