AWL supply waterslides for Dubbo Aquatic Leisure Centre upgrade
Ready for the summer season, Dubbo Aquatic Leisure Centre has recently installed two new waterslides supplied by Australian Waterslides & Leisure (AWL).
Commenting on the installation, Dubbo City Council Recreation Services Manager James McKechnie said they made a change from the blue of the old slides, which after 32 years of use had to be replaced this year.
McKechnie told local newspaper The Daily Liberal “we wanted to make it stand out to the public and novel for patrons.
"The new slides are close to identical in slide path and length but they look a bit more spectacular in red and yellow."
Originally supplied by AWL back in the early 1980s, the previous slides regularly attracted 100,000 individual slide rides a year.
After extensive research, Dubbo City Council got AWL to replicate the original slides using their original fibreglass moulds. AWL used the original moulds but introduced state-of-the-art technology to ensure that these new slides remain usable for another 30 years.
By using the original moulds, only minor work had to be undertaken on the waterslides’ steel infrastructure and the plunge pool, which significantly reduced the replacement costs.
AWL design, supply and install waterslides and waterpark features for clients across Australia, New Zealand and in international markets.
