read moreAustralian Regional Tourism has launched its new Emerging Tourism Professionals (ETP) program designed to help attract, retain and mentor young people into regional tourism.
Open to tourism professionals aged 30 and under who are working in the tourism industry in regional Australia, or in a role that primarily focuses on regional tourism, applicants for the program can apply as part of the private sector or as part of a government role, with the winner receiving an internship with a major tourism organisation and $2,500 to spend on their professional development.
As the peak national body representing regional tourism practitioners in Australia, Australian Regional Tourism is committed to supporting the development of young tourism professionals with particular regard to those working in, and contributing to, regional destinations. For many years, Australian Regional Tourism has conducted the Young Tourism Professional Award Program, now revitalised and known as the Emerging Tourism Professional program, which is held annually in conjunction with the Australian Regional Tourism Convention in October.
The objectives of the program is to:
• Recognise excellence, achievements and innovations in regional tourism;
• Incentivise young regional tourism practitioners to strive for best-practice; and
• Encourage young regional tourism practitioners to remain in the industry
Finalists for the Emerging Tourism Professional program are considered to be emerging leaders of the industry with the potential to make significant contribution to regional tourism.
Applications close on 14th September.
