Aussie World Pub façade set to change as facelift of Sunshine Coast attraction moves forward

Aussie World Pub façade set to change as facelift of Sunshine Coast attraction moves forward
June 14, 2018

The landmark iconic Aussie World pub has taken a major step forward in its redevelopment with the removal of its balcony and bullnose roof over recent days.

The former Ettamogah Pub, built in 1989 by Lindsay Cooper, is undergoing a significant overhaul which will see the famous watering hole transformed to include a more modern, family orientated, coastal tropical feel with a strong emphasis on local produce, art, culture, sports and iconic symbols of Australia.

Aussie World spokesperson Tim James said the removal of the bullnose roofing signals the end of one of the most distinctive features of the former Ettamogah Pub.

James advised “the construction team are making great progress both internally and externally with significant work currently underway including a new beer garden which is nearing completion along with an upgrade to the toilets and the installation of a lift which will provide easy access to the top level for the elderly or those with a disability.

“We’ve managed to trade throughout the redevelopment which has provided significant challenges for patrons and staff alike and we thank them for their patience. It’s now full steam ahead as we work toward completion and we’re confident that everyone will be impressed when the project is completed.”

The new venue will more than double its footprint with an expanded balcony extending on the east side, wrapping around the southern and northern sides of the pub and an extended alfresco front verandah. A tree house themed guest lift will improve access to the restaurant level while new Australian themed zones, new furnishings and updated amenities are set to enhance the guest experience.

James said he expected that the redevelopment of the pub will conclude later this year with its new identity slowly being revealed for locals and tourists to experience with the new name to be revealed before the opening date.

Over four million guests have enjoyed the Aussie World theme park since its inception in 1989.
