Aussie World plans for seven new rides

Aussie World plans for seven new rides
February 24, 2017

Sunshine Coast amusement park Aussie World is planning to introduce a suite of new thrill rides as part of a vision to expand from its current 6 hectares to make full use of its 22 hectare footprint.

A development application lodged with Sunshine Coast Council reveals seven new attractions along with new amenities and a green space suitable for a variety of events.

Having opened its new Bombora Bounce tower ride before Christmas and currently redeveloping the former Ettamogah Pub with hundreds of thousands of dollars being spent on new theming.

Downunder Drive Chief Operating Officer Aaron Flanagan explained "our vision is to create a modern authentically Australian tourist, events and entertainment destination that appeals to our local community as well as intra and interstate visitors and international tourists.

"We are affectionately referred to as the gateway to the Sunshine Coast and we aspire to develop and promote Downunder Drive as the must stop destination on the highway."

Flanagan has previously told media that the family-owned attraction is aiming that some of the new rides will be installed by the middle of the year.

Rides to be installed include:

Aerobat
A combination of Dreamworld’s Tailspin and the old Enterprise ride, this will be first permanent installation of this Technical Park made ride in Australia.

Crazy Mouse Coaster
Replacing Aussie World's former wooden coaster this ride is a favourite at theme parks around the world.

Drop Tower
A new 40 metre high attraction likely to be a landmark for those driving past on the Bruce Highway.

Typhoon 360
Made by Technical Park and similar to rides installed at Rainbows’ End in Auckland and The Claw at Dreamworld.

Zamperla Air Race
Similar to the Pandamonium at Dreamworld this acrobatic aeroplane flight ride includes banks and loops.

Zamperla Star Fly
Zamperla’s popular vertical swing ride.

Zamperla Windstarz
With a colorful and attractive design the original WindstarZ interactivity allows riders to be captains of their own experience by controlling the movement of the sail on their own ‘hang glider’.
