ATIC’s COVID Clean Program embraced by Tourism Industry

ATIC’s COVID Clean Program embraced by Tourism Industry
June 16, 2020

More than 1300 Australian tourism businesses have signed up to be certified as COVID Clean through a new online program - COVID Clean Practicing Business Program - developed by the Australian Tourism Industry Council (ATIC).

The significant embracing by the tourism industry of the COVID Clean Practicing Business Program reflects the proactive efforts by industry to ensure safe tourism and travel experiences.

The COVID Clean Practicing Business Program generates customised cleaning checklists tailored for the tourism industry based on Safe Work Australia recommendations and individual State or Territory requirements.

ATIC Executive Director Simon Westaway said the strong take up of the Program demonstrated the industry’s genuine commitment to customer and employee health and notes “in just over a month since the COVID Clean program was launched more than 1300 businesses from across Australia have signed up.

“The free online COVID Clean program gives tourism businesses the resources they need to implement practices such as social distancing, customer guidance and risk registers to minimise spread of COVID-19 and provide peace of mind to customers and employees.”

Owner of Coonawarra Experiences in South Australia, Kerry Meares advises that the COVID Clean Practicing Business accreditation was straight forward, informative, and a comprehensive refresher on cleaning protocols.

Meares explains “having completed this process we can provide an extra level of assurance to our guests that we are aware of what’s required to protect their health and have implemented these requirements.”
