Albany Entertainment Centre becomes Western Australia’s first theatre to reopen

Albany Entertainment Centre becomes Western Australia’s first theatre to reopen
June 11, 2020

The Albany Entertainment Centre is to become the first major Western Australia Government-owned theatre venue to host a public performance since COVID-19 forced a statewide closure of venues in March.

The Perth Theatre Trust (PTT) venue will reopen on 18th June with its relaunched the Harbourside Concert Series - part of the venue's 10-year anniversary program - featuring Western Australian musicians.

Moved from the foyer into the larger space of the Kalyenup Studio to ensure safe physical distancing, the performances will consist of a series of eight concerts.

In preparation for the return of guests, the venue has arranged seating to ensure appropriate physical distancing; installed multiple hygiene stations throughout the venue; implemented traffic flow control in some areas; completed mandatory COVID safe training; and increased cleaning regimes across the venue.

Welcoming the reopening of the venue, Western Australian Culture and the Arts Minister, David Templeman stated “it's wonderful that we are seeing a return to live entertainment.

“Staff have been working hard to ensure that the venue is safe and welcoming for its patrons, so they can return with confidence."

The PTT also manages His Majesty’s Theatre, the State Theatre Centre of WA, Perth Cultural Centre and Perth Concert Hall.
