Adventure World to sue fireworks company over fire that destroyed landmark castle
August 5, 2016

Perth theme park Adventure World is reportedly suing the fireworks company whose products allegedly sparked a $1 million fire at the theme park’s landmark castle tower three years ago.

Investigators blamed a firework for the blaze destroyed the 31 year-old castle during a Halloween event on 2nd November 2013.

Just days after Adventure World opened its new Abyss rollercoaster, guests were evacuated from the theme park as a result of the blaze.

Adventure World reportedly lodged a writ with the WA Supreme Court claiming Cardile International Fireworks Pty Ltd was negligent and breached its obligation to carry out the fireworks display safely.

The theme park owners are seeking damages and court costs.

The castle was demolished in 2014 after failed attempts to restore it following the fire.

At the time, Adventure World Chief Executive Mark Shaw described the fire as a rare and unfortunate event.
