2022 Darwin International Film Festival promises something for everyone

2022 Darwin International Film Festival promises something for everyone
August 16, 2022

The official program for the 2022 Darwin International Film Festival (DIFF) will be launched at the Deckchair Cinema on 15th August and promises to have something on offer for people of all ages.

Darwin International Film Festival Manager James Parker advises “with over 40 screenings, Darwin International Film Festival is bigger than ever. The program launch will be a night to remember, with live music and canapés before you settle down to get a first look at the program of exciting events and screenings coming in September.”

The popular event returns to Darwin from 15th-25th September 2022 and new this year is the Sundown Screen, which will be located at the Darwin Waterfront Peninsula Lawns – a perfect setup for the whole family with beach chairs, bean bags and exclusive deluxe catered seating options.

In 2022, there is a record number of free events on offer for film lovers. Early sessions on the Sundown Screen will be free to access, with six free screenings at Event Cinemas Palmerston also taking place.

There will be no shortage of industry talent at this year’s event, with more than 30 special guests secured by festival organisers.

A jam-packed industry program also accompanies the festival, giving local practitioners the opportunity to attend tailored events as part of the Northern Territory Screen Summit (NTSS).

NT Minister for Major Events, Paul Kirby notes “The Darwin International Film Festival is a much-loved staple on the Territory’s calendar of events, and it’s wonderful to see event organisers raising the bar this year with another incredible program.

“With something on offer for young and old, this festival gives locals and visitors exposure to an exciting range of films that they wouldn’t usually see, as well as the opportunity to meet and hear from leading filmmakers and actors.
