2016 Let’s Move for a Better World Challenge entries close on 18th February
With leading international fitness equipment supplier Technogym staging the third edition of its 'Let's Move for a Better World' challenge from 1st to 19th March, facilities wanting to be part of the campaign need to register by 18th February.
Focused on promoting and tracking exercise among end-users and fitness facilities throughout the world, the innovative campaign aims to encourage members at fitness facilities to become more active - with the added social cause of giving back to their local community.
With fitness facilities from all over the world having compete in past editions of Let's Move for a Better World, Australia has been a key contributor to the success of the campaign.
In practice members at participating fitness facilities will accumulate MOVEs (Technogym's metric of movement) by exercising on Technogym cardio equipment.
The fitness facility that accumulates the most total number of MOVEs during the allotted time period of the campaign is deemed the winner and will receive the opportunity to donate a set of Technogym Easy Line equipment to a local school of their choice in addition to a seminar promoting healthy lifestyles.
Technogym has grand ambitions for ‘Let’s Move for a Better World’ 2016, following the success of the 2015 edition, which boasted impressive figures and tripled 2014 results: 80,000 participants in 17 countries completed more than 315 million MOVEs, burning a total of 140 million calories and losing a staggering 20,000 kilograms.
The 2015 edition saw impressive improvements for participating facilities: visits increased by an average of 34%, new memberships increased by 17%, and more than three quarters of participants saw an increase in the engagement and motivation of existing members.
In 2014, over 20,000 people at 176 fitness clubs around the globe participated in the campaign. Facilities from 10 countries, with Banyule City Council's Watermarc facility becoming Australia's top 'Let's Move' performer, generating 3,743,464 MOVEs and recognition in the top five performers worldwide.
Participating in the 'Let's Move for a Better World' campaign benefits fitness facilities in many ways. The campaign itself provides an opportunity to attract new members through an enticing incentive while also entertaining current members through a fun and interactive competition.
In turn, members benefit with an extra motivation to better their own health while also personally contributing to a cause that can positively impact their own community.
Let's Move for a Better World is the culmination of Technogym's 20 year commitment to Wellness as an opportunity to build a more sustainable society based on individual health and well-being.
Technogym founder and President Nerio Alessandri explains “wellness is a social opportunity for everyone. An opportunity for governments to reduce health service costs, for companies to stimulate their members to be more creative and productive and for all citizens to improve their health and daily lifestyle.”
