200,000 water bottles refilled in MSAC water conservation initiative

200,000 water bottles refilled in MSAC water conservation initiative
January 24, 2018

The Melbourne Sport and Aquatic Centre (MSAC) has advised that the 10 water bottle refill stations installed in partnership with VicHealth in October last year achieved over 200,000 bottle refills by the end of 2017, equating to more than 157,000 litres of water.

Among the notable statistics achieved by Elkay EZH2O Vandal Resistant Drinking Fountain and Bottle Refill Station units, supplied by CIVIQ, are more than 64,000 refills from the water dispensers located at the basketball change-rooms.

The installations provide free, healthy hydration for users and help eliminate waste from disposable plastic bottles.

Commenting on the installation, CIVIQ Brand & Marketing Manager Danny Brookes advised “we are finding that our Elkay Drinking Water Stations are a popular choice for health and fitness facilities. “They are economical, compact and offer chilled bottle refill outlets as well as drinking fountain functionality.

“They also feature anti-microbial materials and clever drainage, which makes them a hygienic solution requiring minimal maintenance.”

MSAC will also be hosting the Hancock Prospecting Australian Short Course Swimming Championships for the next three years.

With it having been over a decade since the last major swimming meet was held in Melbourne, State Sport Centres Trust Chief Executive Phil Meggs explains "in conjunction with the Victorian Government and Swimming Victoria, we are delighted to be bringing the Hancock Prospecting Australian Short Course Swimming Championships to Melbourne over the next three years.

“As the state’s premier multi-sport facility, MSAC has a rich heritage in hosting world-class events and athletes.

"We’re tremendously excited about using all that our venue has to offer, to deliver an event which will entertain and thrill swimmers, fans, officials and volunteers."
