20% rise in visitor numbers at FIBO CHINA 2018
Reed Exhibitions has advised that FIBO China attracted 24,706 visitors to the National Exhibitions and Conference Center in Shanghai between 16th and 18th August - a 20% increase on the previous year.
Marking an increasing interest in fitness and wellness products and programs in China, visitors were able to view innovations from 350 brands representing a mixture of top international brands along with local producers, club operators and distributors. Exhibiting companies included industry giants Technogym, Matrix, Precor, Life Fitness, Sports Art, DHZ Fitness, Miha Bodytec, X-body, Ironmaxx and Olimp while the EMS segment experienced especially strong growth at the event.
Commenting on the expansion, Reed Exhibitions Deutschland Chief Executive, Hans-Joachim Erbel stated “for a growing number of companies this trade show serves as a door opener to the Chinese market.
“Also noticeable in the halls was the passion the Chinese population is developing for fitness providing an additional impetus for the industry.”
This year’s FIBO China also benefitted from cooperation with the IDEA Health & Fitness Association which organised its Global Fitness Summit parallel to the trade show.
IDEA, which currently looks after more than 250,000 training instructors and over 10,000 clubs in dozens of countries, took 29 master trainers to FIBO China to deliver continuous education events for trainers.
The trade show’s program of supporting events educated and entertained the audience with targeted content for club operators, investors, managers, trainers and instructors while also bringing numerous top speakers of the international fitness industry to Shanghai.
Centrestage was the FIBO China Academy with its ‘Fitness Industry Future Development Summit Forum’, complemented by numerous sub-forums on the topics of rehabilitation, nutrition, female leadership, management, marketing, retail, swimming pools, youth fitness, human resources, finance, science and technology as well as other club management matters.
Here the trade show cooperated with international club chains, training institutes, associations and the media to address the latest insights and topics affecting the industry on the panel.
EuropeActive, for example, published the Chinese version of the industry study ‘Human Capital in the Fitness Sector’ containing a host of recommendations and tips from experts, enterprises plus best practice advice.
Altogether, FIBO China saw 10 conferences, 102 conventions and 11 competitions covering all areas of the fitness industry.
FIBO China 2019 will be held in Shanghai from 22nd to 24th August next year.
