Case studies:

CROWNE PLAZA HOTEL - ALICE SPRINGS
Over the past few years the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Alice Springs has demonstrated a willingness to save on hotel running costs and at the same time reduce its carbon footprint. As a part of this strategy, Hotel Management engaged the services of The Centre for Appropriate Energy, a private firm that carries out energy audits for Commercial Pool Owners and Government bodies with the aim of reducing energy consumption and costs for the heating of swimming pools. They determined that Solar Heating would help the Hotel with its costs and its carbon footprint.

KATOOMBA AQUATIC CENTRE - BLUE MOUNTAINS, NSW
Heliocol Sydney was contacted by an International Energy Conservation Company in November 2004 to provide them with a heating analysis to present to Blue Mountains City Council.

SALISBURY COUNCIL POOL - SALISBURY, SA
Salisbury Council in Adelaide South Australia is an original Federal Government “Solar City”. When the existing gas boiler (used to heat a 50 metre pool and a 25 meter undercover learner’s pool) reached the end of its life, the Council decided to investigate solar pool heating as a means of lowering their costs.

ROSTREVOR COLLEGE - ADELAIDE, SA
Rostrevor College was looking for a new solar heating system for their 625 square metre pool. They had an existing solar heating system that was no longer working.

KNOX CITY COUNCIL - WANTIRNA SOUTH, VICTORIA

MONASH UNIVERSITY POOL - CLAYTON, VICTORIA
The projects and facilities department at Monash University in Clayton, Victoria was directed by management to complete a green energy audit of the University complex and facilities. Among the findings, the heating of the two indoor pools at their Doug Ellis Swimming Centre was identified as a major ongoing running cost which could be substantially reduced by successfully implementing solar pool heating.

WYNDHAM VACATIONAL RESORTS - KIRRA BEACH, QUEENSLAND
Wyndham Vacational Resort Kirra Beach contacted Heliocol’s Gold Coast representative, Glen Charlton in July 2012 to see if solar pool heating could be adapted to their current gas pool heating system. Their main focus was to reduce their gas bill and their carbon foot print.

HAMILTON HARBOUR - BRISBANE
Heliocol’s Brisbane Representative, Glen Charlton was contacted by Surfside Pools Commercial in February 2012. They were designing a 180,000L swimming pool for Devine Constructions for the Hamilton Harbour Development in Brisbane. They had a major issue for the heating of the pool. There was no gas available and not enough power available for electric heaters so they asked Glen to solve this problem for them.

PINNAROO PUBLIC POOL, PINNAROO SA
The Pinnaroo Public Pool is located approx 200 kms from Adelaide, South Australia. The pool is used by local community and the local tourist park. Heliocol South Australia was requested by the Southern Mallee District Council in November 2013 for a quotation. Two weeks later the quote was accepted by the Council and the installation was completed in December 2013.

MINDA HOME & EFM CENTRE - BRIGHTON, SA
The pool is used by the residents of the Minda Home and also by the EFM Health Club. Heliocol South Australia was specified one of Australia’s leading engineering consultancies, FMG Engineering, to replace the deteriorating rubber strip solar collectors with Heliocol solar panels and also update the existing solar pumps and controller in the plant room.
